Communities that are all within a 10-20 minutes of Caddo include, Durant, Kenefic, Atoka, Caney and Coleman. Caddo, Oklahoma also called The antique town on the Buffalo Trail has a long history. Much of downtown is still standing as it was in 1905! This town has definitely kept its “antique” look. The name Caddo, meaning “Real Chief” came from the Caddo Indian tribe that once lived there. In the late 1800s the residents lived in tents and business were in wooden structures. The sidewalks were made of wood and the road were just dirt, after heavy rains it would get up to knee deep.
Caddos first newspaper stated on January 14,1874. W.J. Hemby was the first editor of the paper. The Caddo newpaper was the first in the state to use Oklahoma in the title. With the early publication of the newspaper, a lot of Caddos history can be found in libraries and microfilms.
By 1910 Caddo had became a major trade and agricultural trade post. With the population reaching eighteen hundred they now had thirty-eight brick businesses and many new residences.
With the growing Durant close by Caddo is seeing more home construction for it’s new residences and renovation to keeps it’s small town charm.

There are so many perks to living in Caddo, Oklahoma. If you are a hunter or fisher Backwoods hunting and fishing will be happy to make sure you have what you need and answer any questions that you may have. With just a short drive you have the Blue River in Tishomingo or Lake Texoma.
For the shopper in the family there are several local businesses just in downtown Caddo. There’s plenty of shopping close by in Durant, but if you need a little more Sherman that is is just 43 mins away and with about 30 more minutes you can be at the Allen Outlet mall which is awesome.
For family fun Caddo has a quaint movie theater that has been around from many of years. For a girls night or date night you can visit the Blue River Winery for a delicious wine tasting. With a short drive you can go the Choctaw casino that has something for pretty much everyone. It has the District that is family friendly. It includes a multi screen movie theater, arcade and bowling. If you need some relaxation they have an amazing spa or just hang out at the resort style pool with separate areas for family, children and adult. If you just need a city feel for a weekend or day. Oklahoma city is 2 hrs and 30 min and Dallas is 1hr and 30 min away. Is there any other reason to not have property in Caddo, Oklahoma?
